AiniBijoux: a jeweler and a button maker in one person My name is Martina Vančurová and I am behind the AiniBijoux brand, under which I produce textile buttons and jewelry made from them. I have been dealing with small textile techniques and their use in the production of jewelry and clothing accessories for more than 20 years. Now, for the sixth year, I have been specializing in the production of jewelry from mainly coated and threaded buttons. I love old traditions and crafts, and therefore I try to include as much of the textile production, which has deep roots in our country, in my work. The largest part of my work is the creation of jewelry from fabric-coated buttons, so I am constantly looking for new opportunities to enrich my craft as a jeweler and button maker with other traditional crafts and to connect various techniques and creators. And I am succeeding at that! In recent years, I have established cooperation with several textile manufacturers, so you can find absolutely unique jewelry from Strážnice Blueprint, Czech brocade from Hedva, Slovak embroidery from Magdino embroidery, or jewelry made from hand-woven fabrics thanks to the collaboration with the Pèlerine weaving house. Of course, classic cotton and fancy textiles also have their place in my work. And because I create my jewelry from handmade buttons, I also offer these buttons. Whether you sew, make upholstered furniture, or as a jeweler you are looking for interesting textile "cabochons" for your work, I will be happy to make custom buttons just for you. Or even jewelry that is perfectly matched to your models, because they will be made of the same fabric. In addition to making fabric buttons, I have also completely fallen in love with the almost forgotten technique of handmade thread buttons, for which, along with other little-known old textile techniques, I am preparing a new project. I would like to launch a new website www.vyrobaknofliku.cz soon, on which I plan to present this old craft, offer materials and tools for production, as well as courses for this craft that was previously traditional in our country. The website is not yet available, but it should be operational at least in its basic version by the beginning of the exhibition. So what can you look forward to at my stand during the BPM exhibition? I will bring a large number of button jewelry – earrings, brooches, pendants, bracelets, rings, hairpins… – made from traditional and folk textile materials but also in modern design. You will also be able to buy buttons for your further creations. Furthermore, jewelry scraped, woven on a frame, carded, braided with luceteau, micromacramé, from classic buttons and from handmade thread buttons. I am also preparing creative sets for your creations – from blueprints and button ones. You will be able to see a rich sample of thread buttons. And last but not least, an offer of cooperation and custom production of buttons and jewelry – do not hesitate to contact me.
