Gathering or textile manipulation allows you to quickly create a 3D effect on the selected fabric. We will work with a variety of unusual materials to achieve unexpected results. I will advise participants on the choice of colours, materials and combinations. At home you can then finish the work and create a small quilt.

Romana Černá (The Czech Republic): Picture Transfer

Elina Lusis-Grinberga (Latvia): Unique Gift Creations
The aim of this class is to create small unique art pieces that can serve various purposes – miniature textile art piece, one of a kind gift card or a personal bookmark. While exploring the diverse possibilities of a collage, a considerable emphasis will be put on learning the composition and stitch design. By experimenting with different fabrics and combinations of techniques the participants will create several original art pieces. The students will also learn how to apply the machine-embroidered lace as a part of the design to incorporate lightness and transparency into artwork. No specific amounts of fabric are required - this is a great way to use all the fabric scraps! The more the surface is re-worked and transformed, the more playful and interesting the work becomes. This course will lead to rangy opportunities to improvise and will show you how quickly and easily you can develop your own style.

Maryse Allard (France): Pojagi 1
The first one (white and blue) is 20 x 20 cm: this workshop is very easy and interesting for discovering the technique. Participants will discover this wonderful ancestral Korean art and create a small pojagi, learning two kinds of techniques. Of course, each participant can bring their own fabric. Most of the time I propose a kit (6 euros) with 50 x 50 cm white organdy and 15 x 50 cm dyed organdy. Of course, it is voluntary but with this fabric they don't have any problem making their first pojagi. With the kit they can realize a bigger one too. When the pojagi is finished, they can use it as a small curtain on a window or put it on some cloth for customization.

Mirka Kalinová (The Czech republic): Creative Printing Workshop
The goal of this creative workshop is to try different ways of printing on paper and fabric using the monotype technique. This will be done using a Gelli plate (a gel pad, a plate), templates and stamps purchased or made at home. Various leaves and grasses will also come in handy. You will learn how to use the prints created and take away a picture created using one of these techniques.
The procedure will be as follows:
1. Demonstration of the basics of working with a Gelli plate.
2. Creating a background for further work, either using a Gelli plate or a simple painting accompanied by prints. We will print in multiple layers.
3. You will learn how to print floral motifs.
4. You will finish the image on the paper with a collage, or maybe a simple drawing using a gel pen. You will machine stitch the picture on the fabric at home and complete it with a collage.
Templates and stamps will be available at the workshop, as well as further instructions and demonstrations.
You can use a purchased Gelli plate or create one at home. Instructions can be found at https://www.kalinovamirka.cz/l/navod-na-vyrobu-gelli-plate/.

Anke Pradel-Schönknecht (Germany): Layering
In this workshop we work with foundation fabric (participants' favourite colours, can be thick) and various thin and transparent fabrics, paper/fibres or other translucent and transparent materials. Small fragments of gold or silver can also be used for the backing layers. When we layer thin layers on top of each other, they reappear and interesting effects are created. These layers of fabric can be gently sewn together in some places and the work can be finished later / at home. I advise my participants on the choice of colours and materials and how to combine thin layers of material to make an interesting picture (or quilt).

Maryse Allard (France): Pojagi 2
The second one (3 colours and white) is 30 x 40 cm: during this workshop participants will learn how to manage curves and to create something really personalized playing with creativity and imagination. They will learn how to work with concave and convex shapes. This kind of work with curves is traditional in this Korean traditional art. Like for the first one I propose a kit at the same price, with 50 x 50 cm white organdy and three pieces of dyed organdy for the curves. And for the first one, it is voluntary.

Birgit Schüller (Germany): Roundabout
In this project, we will sew a circle composed of 28 segments, which will be integrated into a background. We are going to create a hole in the centre in which a large bead, small objects made of clay or glass or the like can be featured.
There are two approaches to choosing fabrics:
1. Let yourself be inspired by your scraps stash and arrange these fabrics into a pleasing gradation of colours.
2. Start with the object to be featured in the centre of your quilt and choose fabrics accordingly.
The radiant quilting can be done beautifully with a sewing machine.
